Side Story from Aceh

With preparations that very sudden, we must bring the personal equipment like, shoes boot, the mattress, sleeping bag, the mask, and the personal medicine.
Wow… it’s hard to find out – so I try unloaded adventure equipment when still was young.
Finally all stuff was ready to be pack. And we went on Wednesday early in the morning when Jakarta was splashed by heavy rain.

The previous day we packing personally equipment that wanted to be brought by us to Aceh. Imagine equipment to mend the car tire must be brought by us helped IOF that was opening the road in Calang.
And the following fear was whether the things was brought by us might fly with the aircraft. Seven cardboard boxes and one Equipment mended the tire, finally could also fly with to the aircraft, possibly because for Aceh, all was facilitated.

Around 2 o'clock afternoon arrived in the Airport Iskandar Muda, Banda Aceh. And, now how we brought all these things to his aim. Fortunately the previous day we could get contact with several available non-governmental organizations there. And we got the ease by being helped by IOF, Global Rescue Network that by chance has been there before. They picked up us in the Iskandar Airport Muda during afterwards transit for a moment in the military Airport Blang Bintang to look for the helicopter ride to Calang.

Because of the available helicopter, the small helicopter, then Only Arleta that could fly to Calang, myself gathered Globally Rescue Network in their posko in Blang Bintang.

The condition for the military Airport personally very busy with the POSKO and the tend from overseas. They came to help us, each with his expertise and complete equipment. America that came by his helicopter, almost each ten minutes came and went to distribute help to various areas in Aceh. Imagined from struck 7 days to 6 o’clock, each 10 minutes two helicopter America descended and afterwards departed again to distribute help.

Or the German military that developed the clean water Installation in several places in Banda Aceh really helped very much the clean provisions of water that very rare. With sophisticated technology they could distil the river water to water that could direct in drank.

Singapore, Korea, China, and the other country’s came with their medical team, they established the emergency hospital, both in the military airport and in the “ posko “around Banda Aceh.
With the complete medicine and special equipment was used for the state of emergency, they efficiently helped the refugees or even the volunteer who were sick.

By chance the Global Rescue Network “posko”, gathered with the BURMA marines (the dead body hunter). They were assigned to look for the bodies that still were remaining in ruins of buildings. They work together with the volunteers who came from various non-governmental organizations or the others organization all over Indonesia. Most these body hunters, was not supplemented with adequate equipment like the mask, shoes boot, so as to have several volunteers who afterwards were sick.

Truly moving scenery saw all the volunteers worked without tired they work hard to look for the bodies or remained silent the spread refugees in the evacuation command posts. But had also stories that possibly were not exposed, like the existence of the masked raider of the volunteer who took the profit, by taking available jewelers on the bodies that were found by them. Really this was the action that really was condemned!!!

The second day after met arleta that came back from Calang, we departed for Banda Aceh to gather with KOMNASPA. Along the road from the Airport to the Banda Aceh city, we saw how horrifying is damage that happened both that resulting from the earthquake or the tsunami. Possibly if we came in the first or second week, we will see damage that more serious.
Because when we came, around the third week after the disaster, the Banda Aceh city has been somewhat clean, the roads could have been passed through by the vehicle. But continue to still was drawn by damage and horrifying him the disaster that happened.

The city situation generally quiet, that was seen in the corner of the road only several cars the alert military, and refugee’s “ posko”. Also definitely both foreign volunteers and the volunteer from Indonesia went home by the car or walked.

Banda Aceh like the city was not owned.

The foreign car come and goes with still made use of the number plate from his country was their respective.

The only busy area was, NEUSU, this area became the shopping centre that very busy. In this area still was Mini Market, possibly only one – mini market that still was opened in Banda Aceh. The area that previously quiet, but today was really stalled, because almost all the volunteers looked for the thing- the need thing here. We feel like not in Banda Aceh because almost 80 % the person that was met by us definitely not Acehnese, but the volunteer, or the trader that sought a profit in a selling manner clothes, shoes, sandals at the edge of the road (kaki Lima). The trader in this pavement usually comes from Medan.

By chance today was one day by the Idul Adha public holiday. And especially in Banda Aceh, there was the tradition that is” meugang”, that was significant each head of household was required brought came home meat was during afterwards cooked in the house. So the bustle of the public holiday idul adha precisely was begun to two days before the public holiday. But now, the distant situation very much changed, there are no bustle like usually. The tradition meugang was not at the moment.
In some the traditional market that still, we can see plenty of Acehnesse inhabitants who bought meat during afterwards in cooked in his house was their respective.

The atmosphere of the night takbiran feels like insipid.

Kesudahan

Mawie Ananta Jonie:

SERATUS PUISI BAGIMU NEGERI (30)

Tanpa usaha penguburan hanya tangan menuding.

Amsterdam, 05-01-2005.

Dan kita cuma bisa berdo'a , turut sedih, turut berduka, turut bela sungkawa .
